2 ministers from Wicklow will fly out for St. Patrick’s Day visits
Wicklow’s two top ministers will travel overseas as part of this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Overseas Visits.
Health Minister Stephen Donnelly is expected to travel to Austin, Texas while Higher Education Minister Simon Harris will travel to France for the National Day.
The full itinerary for ministerial visits abroad has not yet been confirmed.
33 ministers will travel overseas for St. Patrick’s Day visits in March. Taoiseach Michael Martin will travel to London and Washington DC for the traditional presentation of the shamrock at the White House.
The Foreign Office said that “the central message of this year’s St Patrick’s Day is that Ireland is reopening, and the international program will focus on the theme of rebuilding links and supporting communities around the world. “.
Meanwhile, Minister Donnelly recently embarked on a visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where he attended a major medical technology conference. A business delegation led by Enterprise Ireland showcased a number of Irish companies.
Minister Donnelly also met with UAE Minister of Health and Prevention Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais in Dubai to discuss opportunities for increased cooperation between Ireland and the UAE.
Robert Watt, Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, and senior Emirati health officials also attended the meeting.
