Concrete collaborative shoots for the halfpipe with Natalie Meyers

Collaborative Concrete and award-winning designer Natalie Meyers of Veneer Designs have joined forces to create a new collection of tiles that makes us see stars (and moons). Name it Half moon x strands collection, the collaborative project combines CC Strands Encaustic Pattern Tiles with Meyers Half Moon and Crescent Patterns for a comprehensive collection of six different tiles. The terrazzo finish, CC’s signature style, is softened by the curved shapes, which can also be configured with the solid and lined tiles to create a unique design. The collection can also be matched to different colors, so the possibilities are endless.

Meyers, who is known for her ‘Scandinavian style’, was inspired to create something that has not been seen in the tile market. She shares,

I was immediately wowed by Concrete Colaberative’s terrazzo tiles as the answer to more than a few design dilemmas and immediately started specifying their Venice tile. So many amazing combinations of colored shavings and bottom concrete, it was always difficult to choose the “right” one. Kate Balsis casually told me that if I ever had a tile idea, I would bring it to her. I clung to it a little too passionately. WHAT IF there was a tile with more than one type of terrazzo color? What if we could combine a few of their revolutionary concrete material options into one tile?

Working closely with Kate and Hailey Weller (partner at Concrete Collaborative) throughout development, we landed on a series of geometrically shaped tiles that could be installed in a number of ways to invoke Art Deco patterns. product on the market if something similar already existed, I was looking for something that would distinguish it and fill a void. Bringing the crescent shape was the moment aha. Not only does it offer a new shape that we haven’t seen in a lot of tile design, it also inherently adds a layer of natural wonder and playful symbolism by referencing the phases of the moon.

Half Moon x Strands is available in a box of 13 tiles for $ 175 or visit concrete-collaborative.com to inquire about custom orders.
