Cristiano Ronaldo presents the FIFA Best award alongside a personalized £20m private jet
Cristiano Ronaldo picked up another award at the FIFA Best award with the Manchester United star’s international record recognized as the striker discussed the future
Cristiano Ronaldo paraded his FIFA Best award on the steps of his £20million private jet.
The Manchester United star made the short trip to Zurich in Switzerland to clinch the accolade.
Ronaldo received the prestigious award for breaking the international goalscoring record with Portugal.
The historic moment came when the five-time Ballon d’Or winner scored twice late in a win against the Republic of Ireland in November 2021.
His total now stands at 115, surpassing the best precedent set by Ali Daei of Iran.
He posed in front of his private jet and posted it on Instagram with the words: “best caption wins.” The plane, worth around £20million, has ‘CR7’ on one side of the door and a graphic of the United star celebrating ‘Siuu’ on the other.
Very few people attended the ceremony in person, but Ronaldo was among the minority who did.

He said on Monday evening: “It’s a dream. First of all, I have to say thank you to my national team mates over the last 20 years that I’ve played with.
“The record was 109, right? So six ahead. I’m so proud. It’s a special award from Fifa – an organization I respect a lot. I have my family to thank too. Soon , I’ll be a father again. I’m proud. It’s great to be the top scorer of all time.”
Ronaldo continues to find the net at the age of 36 and the striker believes his incredible physique will keep him playing for years to come.
He continued: “I still have a passion for the game and for scoring goals. I have been playing football since I was five years old. When I go out on the pitch, even in training, my motivation is always there. Even at 37 soon, I feel good.
“I keep working hard. I love the game and I have the passion. I want to keep going.
“I hope to play maybe four or five years, it’s all mental. If you treat your body right, when you need it it will give you back.”
The United star was joined by partner Georgina Rodriguez and eldest son Cristiano Jr at the awards ceremony.
Ronaldo’s return to Manchester didn’t go as planned, with the club in danger of missing out on the top four.
United finished second last season but have fallen massively despite heavy investment this summer.
The 36-year-old recently claimed the club need to compete in the top three, insisting he did not return to Old Trafford to finish sixth or seventh.
He said sky sports : “What I can say is that we can do better – all of us. Manchester (United) belong to important things, so we have to change that.
“I don’t want to be here to be sixth, seventh or fifth. I’m here to try to win, to compete.”
