Introducing “The Futures Collection”: A Mission-Driven Apparel Collaboration with Erin McLeod

“Fashion is always a way to express yourself, but also to express your opinions openly and outwardly. So I think this collection, what I want it to be, is really about my personal evolution. Recognizing that Title IX and the Voting Rights Act, and so many things have gone into giving more people more opportunity and more voice, but also realizing that we have a long way to go,” McLeod said. “J hope people can feel liberated when they wear this line and recognize that we are who we want to be.”

With the Mission Pride program in mind, the Futures collection draws inspiration from four key areas: Mission Rainbow, Mission Planet Earth, Mission W and Mission Inclusion.

At first sight, the audacious zebra print button down, shorts and bucket hat stands out and serves as a nod to the efforts of the Zebra Coalition. The block “W” aligns with Mission W, highlighted to represent women of all backgrounds, with pink and blue tones inspired by the transgender flag.

The IX and 1965 the symbols used on all items represent two historic moments, the first celebrating 50 years of women in sport, while 1965 marks the year the Voting Rights Act was passed, which outlawed discriminatory voting practices and allowed easier access to voting for black Americans and other minorities.
