John Legend’s ‘Beater’ watch costs more than your car
John Legend is a style icon.
The 42-year-old singer is not only one of the most talented musicians alive today: a singer, songwriter, record producer, multi-instrumentalist, producer and EGOT (i.e. a Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony winner)… But he’s also one of the hottest male celebrities on the planet, serving up style inspiration even more impressive than his vocal range.
But the only thing more stacked than his musical trophy cabinet is his collection of watches. Legend adores high-end watches and has particularly good taste in them – with all manner of parts from brands like Bulgari, Rolex and OMEGA filling its safe.
Her favorite watch brand, however, is Audemars Piguet. Specifically, he loves the Royal Oak – he owns a few. But her favorite watch is her Royal Oak Chronograph in yellow gold with white dial: it’s her “beater” watch, that is to say the watch you wear every day whatever the activity and without fear of be damaged.
That the man uses a big gold watch worth over $ 140,000 when his drummer says a lot about his success… Or maybe the size of his cojones. It must be nice.
Weighing 41mm and powered by the Audemars Piguet 2385 caliber, this three-counter chronograph interpretation of Switzerland’s most famous luxury sports watch features a rather unique silver-white “Grande Tapisserie” dial, as well as a case and integrated bracelet in 18K yellow gold.
Legend actually has a very similar reference, also in yellow gold, but with a black dial – the ref. 26320OR.OO.1220OR.01. There’s something about Royal Oaks that really inspires compulsive collecting: Kevin Hart does too (although Hart has almost a dozen things …)

It wears this white dial number more than any other watch in its collection, however. No matter the weather, no matter what the outfit, you can be sure this is the first watch he will go for. He was spotted wearing it twice last week – in the photo above and in the photo below, where he is holding the hot dog – as well as on his family vacation to Portofino earlier this year.
Flex on me once, shame on you. Flex on me twice, shame on me …
Of course, to fuel his expensive watch habit, Legend is working hard. In addition to being a coach on the American version of the popular TV show The voice, The other big fuss for Legend has been to create its own brand of wine, Legend Vineyard Exclusive, in collaboration with famous Napa Valley vineyard Raymond Vineyards.
He’s not the only celebrity to have entered the wine game either: check out Formula 1 driver (and true Australian legend) Daniel Ricciardo’s tasty new collaboration with St Hugo.
