Meghan Markle wore jewelry worth £ 29,000, including Princess Diana’s £ 17,800 Cartier watch while reading her children’s book on a YouTube show.

The 40-year-old was reading her Harry and Archie-inspired book The Bench on Brightly Storytime, “a resource to help parents raise lifelong readers” launched in partnership with Penguin Random House.

The watch, given to Diana by her father on the occasion of her 21st birthday, would then have been given to Meghan by her husband Harry, at the start of their relationship.

Princess Diana regularly wore the Cartier Tank Française gold watch for her engagement in the 1990s.

After Diana’s death in 1997, the watch belonged to Prince William, but it is believed he gave it to Harry around 2009.

Meghan has received several items from Diana’s collection, the Mail Online reports. Lavish items include Diana’s butterfly earrings and gold bracelet, which Meghan wore during her Australian tour in 2018.

The Duchess is known to be a fan of the Cartier Tank gold watch and launched its own two-tone version in 2015.

At the time, she told Hello Magazine: “I have always coveted the Cartier French Tank watch and bought the two-tone version.

“I had it engraved on the back of ‘To MM From MM’ and I intend to give it to my daughter someday. That’s what makes the pieces special, the connection you have with them. “
