Pittsburgh Designer Kiya Tomlin Recognized in Oprah’s Favorite Things

Kiya tomlin grew up watching “The Oprah Winfrey Show”.

The crowd caught Tomlin’s attention.

“I’ve always been in awe of his audience,” said Tomlin, a fashion designer and clothing maker with a studio at Etna. “They were the best dressed. They always had their hair and makeup done. They looked great.

Now Oprah Winfrey notices Tomlin.

The famous talk show host, television producer and actress has selected Tomlin’s Twisted Tee as one of Oprah’s “favorite things.”

The top has an asymmetrical design with a subtle twist at the neck. It is described as “wide at the top and fitted at the waist, perfect for getting in or out.”

The t-shirt is one of the 110 gifts chosen by Winfrey. It is available on Amazon.com and that of Tomlin website.

On her website, Winfrey posted this: “After this past year, I think we all deserve some surprises and delicacies for the holiday season.”

She said what was very important was to celebrate small businesses, women-owned brands and items created by people of color. She also invited buyers not only to buy for others, but also to have fun.

Winfrey, who tried on Tomlin’s red shirt, described it as “comfortable and sassy.” This is what this stylish bamboo-blend jersey t-shirt offers.

Tomlin, who recently launched an officially licensed Pittsburgh Steelers collection from the NFL, describes his line as inspired to “help busy women feel comfortable, confident and beautiful all day long.”

Tomlin’s experience is in custom design. She creates for women of all shapes and sizes. Fashion is about feeling good about yourself, she says.

“I can create comfortable clothes that inspire confidence,” she said. “This confidence is what makes a woman truly beautiful.”

The PR firm Tomlin works with sent information about the fashion line to Winfrey. Winfrey’s company reached out to try on one of the shirts in red. This is not a first for Tomlin. Her line was recognized in Winfrey’s O magazine in 2015 for the publication’s Cozy Things List.

“I am designing for wife Oprah Winfrey,” said Tomlin. “I am inspired by these women who live their lives to the fullest. What I love about Oprah is that she is genuine and genuine. She has a very good heart.

As soon as the list was released, Tomlin said the shirt immediately sold. Tomlin knew she had made the list two months ago, so she started making more shirts. It designs, manufactures and sells from the same space.

“I’m glad she chose this shirt,” Tomlin said. “We had a decent amount of inventory. Having the manufacturing in-house certainly helps. We don’t have as many supply chain issues as if we had to wait for someone else to make it and ship it. “

Tomlin also makes a long skirt for Winfrey.

“It’s a Christmas present for her,” said Tomlin.

Tomlin has already received a gift from Winfrey.
