Ruth Jean Elliott Robinson, 88, of Somerset, from Corbin, Ky., Died Wednesday afternoon October 21, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lexington. She was born on September 9, 1933 in Corbin.
She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Gene Robinson, they were married from May 1, 1955 until his death on February 16, 2016. Also predeceased by her aunts / sisters: Lela, Marie, Wilma, Maxine, Madeline and Mildred and uncles / brothers: Glynn Wallace and Willard.
She is survived by her three children: Debbie Hertzer (Chuck) and Mitzi Robinson of Somerset and Ron Robinson of Lexington, three grandchildren: Desi Frei (Aislynn) and Dustin Frei (Katrina Godbey) of Somerset and Samantha Glenn (Brent) from Lancaster, South Carolina, nine great-children: Adilynn, Ashtynn, Daxton, Drayden, Bristol, Deacon, Presley, Kayla and Cameron. She is also survived by her aunts / sisters: Jessie and Sarita, with whom she always loved to talk and joke. She is also survived by her brother-in-law: Don Robinson (Olivia) of London, their children Denise Combs (Carlos) and Stuart, her sister-in-law Barbara Hodge (Ronnie) and their daughter Kim Bates (Randy).
She stood by her husband’s side as he grew into a successful businessman. He often said he couldn’t have done it without her. A good Christian mother. Always looking forward to reuniting with her Friday lunch group. I enjoyed going to church and eating out. In her early years, she enjoyed playing golf with her friends from the “jet set golf” of Somerset and London. She loved Christmas and spending winters in Florida, taking care of her husband and family. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitations will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday, October 25, 2021 at the First Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. at the church with Bro. David Pendley officiating. Interment will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy are suggested at St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 or at the First Baptist Church of Somerset, 128 Main Street, Somerset, Kentucky 42501.
