Skateboard Charity Halloween Raises Over 100 Apparel Items

The WallRide and CS8125 associations organized a Halloween event at the Faro Skatepark, with many skateboards, prizes, costumes, pizzas and a collection of clothing and blankets for those who need it most. On Sunday October 30, the Halloween Benefit Ride celebration took place in Faro, an event that attracted more than 50 skateboarders from the Algarve, central Portugal and Spain.

The event, co-hosted by skateboarding associations WallRide (Faro) and CS8125 (Quarteira), celebrated skateboarding culture at its best, with Halloween flavor in the mix and plenty of social awareness.

The date took place as part of the WallRide Sundays concept – monthly events organized by WallRide, which take place on the last Sunday of each month, at the Faro skatepark and were supported by skateboard distributor Marteleira, the local clothing brand Lowkey and the Faro branch of Domino’s Pizza.

In terms of social awareness, the skateboarding community was able to raise over a hundred pieces of clothing and blankets, which will be donated to those who need them most.

Beyond the skateboarding attendees, WallRide estimates nearly three hundred people attended the event, a reality that stands in stark contrast to the skatepark’s recent past when, – prior to June 2021 (when the Association made its public debut with the full support of Faro City Hall – the sports facility was de facto abandoned and dilapidated, and had a reputation for anti-social, delinquent, and even violent behavior.

Today, the Faro skatepark has been returned to all sports enthusiasts, who, thanks to the work developed by the WallRide association, can enjoy a clean and safe space, which welcomes all citizens, regardless of their age, ethnic origin, social stratosphere, gender or nationality. .
