Excitement is mounting after the torch of the country’s biggest football tournament, the Inter-District Courts Competition (IDC) passed through Viti Levu ahead of this weekend’s showdown in Suva.
The West Division teams had the opportunity to present the Courts IDC torch which was paraded yesterday by players and coaching staff in every city from Sigatoka to Ba.
Ba’s football coach Imdad Ali said that the IDC is the biggest tournament in the country compared to other football competitions.
“All the teams prepared well and so did we,” he said.
“It is a privilege to welcome the IDC Torch today and we are happy that she has come to Ba so that we can start motivating our fans and supporters for the upcoming tournament.
“The players are excited and looking forward to our first game this weekend.”
The 2022 Courts IDC Torch Relay started in Sigatoka town where Nadroga football players picked up the torch and handed it over to Courts Store staff before it headed to Nadi town around noon .
In Nadi, the players walked through Jet Set Town with the torch before finishing the relay at the Nadi Courts store.
The torch then made its way to Sugar City after noon before completing the first lap of the relay in Ba.
Today, Tavua Football players will have the opportunity to showcase the IDC torch before it travels to Korovou and Nausori.
