Watch this Bronco blow his 4WD system while he makes mud

We’ve determined time and time again just how off-road the new Ford Bronco can be. But like everything, there is a limit to the abuse it can take. An owner learned this the hard way.

Eville Truck on YouTube, owner of a slightly modified 2021 4-door Bronco painted in Cyber Orange, decided to try to get through a deep mud pit on a recent off-road jaunt with another Bronco. In the video above, you can see the driver at full speed enter the pit and enter at an awkward angle, slamming the truck into the ground and stopping abruptly, briefly lifting the rear into the air.

We hear the first bad transmission sound coming from the SUV, as if something in the transmission has just broken, as the truck tries to back up to take off. The driver is still able to get the Bronco through the pit, but not without having to listen to a bunch of very expensive transmission hits.

Afterward, the owner determines that something in the 4WD system must have broken. As soon as it is driven anywhere, a terrible clicking noise comes from under the truck, and the front wheels do not lower the torque they are supposed to produce. Put it in 2WD mode, and it works great. No matter what’s broken, we’re sure it won’t be cheap to fix.

Nevertheless, we congratulate this owner of Bronco. We’d rather see those trucks get a bit of a bump doing what they’re designed to do rather than sitting in a garage or mall parking lot looking crisp.
